A serious motor vehicle collision Sunday resulted in one fatality and several individuals being transported to hospital in serious condition.
At 10:30 a.m., first responders received reports of a collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564 east of Calgary, involving two vehicles with a total of five occupants, said EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux.
“Our paramedic crews unfortunately declared one adult deceased at the scene, and that person was not transported,” Brideaux said. “A child was flown into Alberta Children’s Hospital by STARS Air Ambulance in serious condition. The remaining three patients, all adults, were taken to Calgary area hospitals in at least serious condition at the time of transport.”

The scene is under investigation by RCMP.
Traffic around the collision scene is being diverted.
Road closures are also in place along Highway 9 between Township Road 252 and 260, and Highway 564 between Range Road 271 and 273.
