Two Manitoulin police officers helped a young moose in need on Saturday.
Ontario Provincial Police say the pair were on patrol along Highway 6 North of the Little Current Swing Bridge when they spotted a moose caught in a wire fence.
OPP say the animal was lying on the ground and wasn’t able to free itself.
“Using the tools they had on hand, and a bit of teamwork, the officers carefully cut the fence around the moose’s legs and were able to free the moose without injury,” said police in a news release.
The moose took a little time to recover, then got up and went on its way.
“Sometimes policing brings unexpected challenges, and in some cases, that occasionally includes lending a hand to a moose in need,” police added.
