Bear Creek, Greenaway and Sunnyside outdoor pools in Surrey are scheduled to open for the summer on May 18, with others to follow.
Hjorth Road pool is set to open on June 6, followed by Holly, Kwantlen, Port Kells and Unwin pools June 27.
All summer, admission is free at all of the pools.
Tides Out operates the City of Surrey’s eight outdoor pools. Swim times, rules, lessons, rentals and lifeguarding info is posted on tidesout.com.
In March, Surrey council approved a $3.7-million contract for Tide’s Out Services Ltd. for a three-year term to operate the eight outdoor pools — seven in the north end of Surrey, one in the south.
Laurie Cavan, Surrey’s general manager of parks, recreation and culture, says the pools in 2025 saw more than 7,500 swim lesson registrants and some 154,000 public swim and sport users.
“The user trends have grown since 2024, with an increase of over 900 swim lesson registrations and over 11,000 additional public swim and sport users,” Cavan told the city council.
