Winnipeg’s water main flushing for 2026 will resume starting on Wednesday.

Crews will start in St. Boniface and St. Boniface East before spending the rest of spring and summer working their way around the city.

“Flushing water mains lets us test the water distribution system to make sure it’s running smoothly and reliably,” said Mike Szmon, manager of Water Services. “It’s routine but important work that helps the system stay in good shape.”

This year, crews will concentrate on St. Vital North, St. Vital South, Transcona and parts of River East.

City crews will notify streets being affected by flushing two to four days before they begin, said the city.
