Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — The Just for Giggles cycling team is on a mission.
“We feel we can have a good impact on making awareness,” said team captain Rick Dalton. “We ride a lot.”
The group took their indoor training outside Monday.
“Riding indoors in OK, but it gets old,” Dalton said. “So it’s nice to get outside in the sun, get some vitamin C.”
The team hosted a 16-mile training ride across Rochester ahead of the 2026 Tour de Cure Finger Lakes fundraising ride for the American Diabetes Association.

“There’s a really great sense of community,” said team member Sarah McDonell. “And all the riders support each other.”
Founded nearly 15 years ago, the team decided to get involved with the local event a couple years ago for fun to raise money for the important cause.
“Our goal is to raise $25,000 as a team,” Dalton said.

“We’re out there riding, putting in miles, and it helps raise awareness versus just a standard fundraiser without any other activity part of it,” Dalton continued.
The team says all riders are welcome to join.
“It’s nice that there are different distances to choose from, so it’s really inclusive for a lot of different riding abilities,” McDonell said.
The Tour de Cure Finger Lakes kicks off Saturday, June 6 from Stokoe Farms.
