Drivers in Mississauga and Brampton can expect increased police enforcement this week as officers target dangerous driving behaviours linked to serious crashes and injuries.
Peel Regional Police announced it is ramping up education and enforcement efforts as part of Canada Road Safety Week, a national campaign running from May 12 to 18.
Police say officers across Peel Region will focus on high-risk driving habits such as distracted driving, aggressive driving, speeding and impaired driving. Enforcement will also include pedestrian safety violations and commercial vehicle compliance.
The campaign coincides with the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend, a period when police typically see an increase in impaired driving incidents and traffic volumes.
According to Peel police, the enforcement campaign is aimed at reducing preventable collisions while encouraging safer driving habits throughout Mississauga and Brampton.
This year’s Canada Road Safety Week theme is “Road Safety – Every Road. Every Day. Everyone.”
Police say enforcement efforts will be concentrated in areas identified through traffic and collision data.
In addition to enforcement, Peel police are encouraging residents to report ongoing road safety concerns through the service’s General Driving Concern Portal, which is designed for non-emergency complaints involving unsafe driving behaviour.
Police remind residents to call 911 in cases involving immediate danger or emergencies.
Peel police will also be sharing road safety messaging and enforcement updates on social media throughout the week using the hashtag #CRSW2026.
