The Montreal Canadiens could not keep their offence rolling against the Buffalo Sabres in a 3-2 loss in Game 4 of their second-round series on Tuesday at the Bell Centre.
The best-of-seven series is tied 2-2. Game 5 is Thursday in Buffalo.

Third Period: Buffalo retakes lead
After the Habs failed to score on a double-minor by Buffalo, Zach Benson scored from in front on the power play to give the Sabres the lead. 3-2 Sabres
Second Period: Strange bounce
During the first half of a double minor on Alexandre Carrier, Tage Thompson’s dump went off the Zamboni entrance and Jakub Dobes before hitting the back of the net. The Forum Ghosts giveth, but perhaps they taketh. Tied 2-2
First Period: Carbo carries torch
With 13 seconds in the period, Cole Caufield scored on the power play for a second consecutive game. 2-1 Canadiens
Alex Newhook continued to lead the way on offence with his sixth playoff goal. He tied up the game after the Habs seemed certain to be down two goals. Jake Evans and Ivan Demidov drew assists. Tied 1-1
It took some time for the situation room to come to a conclusion, but it was ruled Jakub Dobes’ glove was completed past the goal line when he stopped the puck, giving Jack Quinn the goal. But coach Martin St. Louis challenged the call and it was ruled to be goalie interference. No goal after 10 minutes of deliberation.
In a repeat of Game 3, the Sabres struck first. Mattias Samuelsson jumped in the play and beat Jakub Dobes. 1-0 Sabres
