With summer recreation registration about to open in Brampton, residents are being urged to prepare early as the city rolls out a new season of camps, sports and community programming.

The City of Brampton says registration for most recreation programs opens June 1 at 7 a.m., with residents able to browse available activities starting May 18. Learn-to-Swim and Learn-to-Skate registration opens June 22.

The summer recreation session will run from June 29 to Sept. 6, while full-year programs begin Sept. 14.

Residents will be able to register for a wide range of activities, including sports leagues, aquatics, arts programs and inclusive recreation offerings designed to support participation and skill development for all ages.

City officials are encouraging residents to prepare in advance by confirming account details, verifying residency status and saving preferred course selections before registration day.

Among the steps recommended by the city:

Log into recreation accounts early to confirm personal information
Verify Brampton residency for early registration eligibility
Avoid creating duplicate accounts
Update payment information ahead of checkout
Save course IDs before registration opens
Use Google Chrome for the best desktop experience
Download the city’s recreation registration app for mobile access

The city says residents should avoid refreshing browsers while payments are processing due to high traffic volumes during registration periods.

Alongside summer registration, Brampton is also introducing several recreation-related changes and seasonal updates.

Standardized recreation centre operating hours took effect May 1 across the city, a move Brampton says is intended to improve consistency and better align services with facility usage patterns.

Meanwhile, Greenbriar Recreation Centre will close for the summer as part of operational adjustments, with residents directed to nearby facilities for camps, drop-in programming and recreation services until programming resumes in September.

Outdoor recreation is also returning for the season, with Peel Village Golf Course now open. The nine-hole municipal course, located along Etobicoke Creek, offers public tee times throughout the summer.

Brampton’s summer camps are also returning with expanded programming this year, including the Brampton Honey Badgers Summer Camp Takeover from July 13 to 17. The basketball-themed camp will include a live game experience, mascot appearances and special programming for participants.

Inclusive recreation options, including Camp No Limits and On The Move Trippers programs, will also be available for youth and adults of varying abilities.
