Investigators are warning the public to be aware of distraction thefts following a pair of incidents where jewelry was taken from victims north of Brampton.
The two thefts happened within hours of each other on May 4 in Caledon when elderly individuals were approached by two suspects asking for help with directions.
The suspects would then convince the victims to try-on a necklace, and that’s when police say the suspects removed jewelry the victims were already wearing.
The first theft happened around 2 p.m. in the area of James Street, while the second happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Prescott Drive.
Police say the two suspects are described as a male and a female, between the ages of 40 and 50 years old. The pair said they are of Serbian descent with accented speech, and were operating a sports utility vehicle.
