Victoria filmmaker screens latest documentary at UVic

An award-winning global doc pairs breathtaking videography of Vancouver Island wildlife with exclusive interviews with respected global figures, including Neale Donald Walsch and Patch Adams, showing at a free screening at UVic.
Award-winning filmmakers Alan Baiss, a Victoria native, and Joseh Garcia return to Vancouver Island for a special, free community screening of their latest documentary, Who Do You Think You Are?
In an era of global uncertainty, the film poses a vital question: “What are the current global crises asking of us?” Unlike traditional social issue documentaries, Baiss and Garcia’s work addresses world crises through a spiritual lens, suggesting that global change begins with a deep, internal understanding of self.
“This film is a labour of love and an offering to the community,” the filmmakers say in a news release. “We wanted to explore how the spiritual notion of ‘knowing who we are’ can fundamentally shift how we interact with the challenges of the modern world.”
Fresh off a successful tour across India, where the film was showcased in festivals, ashrams, and high schools, the documentary arrives in Greater Victoria with critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary at the Montreal Independent Film Festival.
Who Do You Think You Are? is the duo’s third philosophical-spiritual exploration. It includes wildlife images captured by Alan Baiss and a moving soundtrack composed by Garcia.
Who Do You Think You Are? screens for free Sunday, May 24, at 6:45 p.m. at the UVic Multicultural Centre, followed by a session with the filmmakers.
