Last year, Japan proved to be a popular setting for foreign game developers.
In October, American studio Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei continued the successful formula of its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, by expanding its samurai-forward blend of action-adventure into the northern island of Hokkaido. In March, Ubisoft Quebec finally acquiesced to long-held fan requests and brought the Assassin’s Creed series to Japan. Even Japan-based developers of games set elsewhere couldn’t seem to resist: The Silent Hill horror series has traditionally been set in small-town America, but Konami and Taiwan-based NeoBards brought the series to rural 1960s Japan for the first time in September’s Silent Hill f.
On May 19, another prominent game series is making the jump to Japan due to popular demand: Forza Horizon 6.
