River shuttles will be back in time for Grand Prix weekend, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain announced this week.
The six ships that link the Old Port of Montreal, Mercier and Pointe-aux-Trembles to Boucherville, Longueuil and Varennes will begin service on the morning of Friday, May 22.
The first departures for the river shuttles are between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. with departures every 45 to 60 minutes. Trips cost $6 until June 30 or $7 as of July 1, or are included at no extra charge for people with weekly or monthly passes that include the zones travelled. (The N1 shuttle that connects Mercier and Boucherville remains free as a mitigation measure during work on the Louis-Hippolyte La Fontaine Tunnel.)
New this year, there will be extended service on the N4, which links the Old Port to Jean-Drapeau Park and Longueuil. Ferry boats will run until 11 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday to allow users to take in summer festivals on the islands and in Montreal.
Bikes are permitted on the river shuttles at all times for no extra cost.
The 2026 season will feature six river shuttles between Montreal and the south shore. ARTM
