In tonight’s episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Abhira confronts Geetanjali over secretly giving a mobile phone to Maira. She accuses Geetanjali of doing it so Maira would remain in contact with her and keep her distance from Abhira. Geetanjali insists that she acted out of concern for Maira, but Abhira counters that Maira is living with her mother and uncle in her own home, not in an isolated place. If Geetanjali truly cared, she could have handed the phone to either her or Armaan directly.
Abhira further points out that Geetanjali hid the phone inside a teddy bear and instructed Maira not to reveal it to anyone. She lashes out at Geetanjali for manipulating the child, controlling her behaviour, and even interfering in her diet by forbidding her from having sugar. Geetanjali defends herself, saying she only restricted sweets for Maira’s health, but Abhira responds that she is capable of looking after her daughter’s well-being herself.
The exchange escalates when Geetanjali taunts Abhira about spending time practising dance with Armaan, while they barely speak to each other otherwise. She also accuses Abhira of secretly seeking Armaan’s help behind her back. Abhira retorts that Geetanjali has turned a young child into her spy.
Geetanjali maintains that she did nothing wrong and claims that any good mother in her place would have done the same. She then takes a dig at Abhira’s parenting by saying that Maira wouldn’t have gotten hurt if she were a truly responsible mother. This leaves Abhira momentarily speechless. Geetanjali continues, saying that Maira is happier talking to her than to Abhira and that the only reason the girl is still staying with Abhira is because she is in touch with her. Otherwise, she would have already left to be with Geetanjali.
Their heated argument intensifies further when Abhira reminds her that she is fighting with a mother who reunited with her child after seven years. Geetanjali coldly replies that if Abhira loses the upcoming competition, this seven-year emotional story will no longer help her and accuses her of using tears to gain sympathy from everyone.
This is the point where Armaan loses his patience. Unable to watch the fight go any further, he steps in and firmly tells Geetanjali to stop.
He declares that no one, neither Abhira, Geetanjali, nor Maira, will participate in the dance competition. But Abhira insists that the event is important for Maira’s happiness and shouldn’t be cancelled due to their personal differences. She urges Armaan to allow it to go ahead.
When Armaan asks if she is sure, Abhira firmly says that as Maira’s mother, she knows the child is eager to perform and she will not take away her joy. She finalises the decision that the competition will indeed be held for Maira’s sake. Armaan then makes it clear that the contest will take place fairly.
Geetanjali, unfazed, vows to celebrate Abhira’s defeat and warns her to be ready. Later, Dadu returns and questions Geetanjali about challenging Abhira. She tells him to trust her judgment and subtly asks whether he misses Maira. She further probes if he doesn’t wish to see Armaan and Maira together in their family, leaving Dadu thoughtful. She then requests his support for her plan.
Both women begin preparing for the competition—Abhira practices with encouragement from Abhir, while Dadu supports Geetanjali and advises her to rest. Meanwhile, Manisha and Kajal express concern over the rivalry. Tanya comments that Geetanjali is not giving Maira and Abhira any breathing space, and even wishes that Abhira would marry Anshuman. Geetanjali claims Abhira herself refuses to be happy, as she hasn’t objected to the idea of her own marriage. Manisha responds by giving Geetanjali a sharp lesson.
The following day, Maira notices that Abhira has been practising through the night and asks her about it. Abhira, still busy rehearsing, confirms that she is preparing to win the competition. Maira spots the mobile phone Geetanjali had given her lying on the table. She quietly goes to pick it up, but Abhira notices and stops her.
Maira explains that the phone was meant for emergencies, which leads Abhira to address the matter directly. She questions Maira about hiding the truth regarding the phone. Maira admits that the device was given to her so she could speak to Geetanjali whenever she wished. Abhira points out that she could have done the same using her phone and asks whether she had ever stopped Maira from talking to Geetanjali. When Maira shakes her head, Abhira reminds her that despite this, she still kept the phone hidden.
Abhira then explains why keeping such things from parents is wrong and tells Maira to think about whether a good child should hide anything from them. She assures her that she will keep the phone with herself but, whenever Maira wishes to speak to Geetanjali, she can inform either her or Abhir, and they will arrange the call through their phones or the landline. She makes it clear that Maira is free to talk to Geetanjali but should not do so secretly. Maira agrees to this arrangement.
Later, Abhira, Abhir, and Maira arrive at the Poddar house for the competition. Maira becomes delighted upon seeing Geetanjali and runs towards her. Meanwhile, Kaveri advises Abhira to participate in the competition with full dedication and to remember that it is only an event. Abhira, however, considers it far more significant, as she feels that the outcome will influence Maira’s choice between her and Geetanjali. Vidya then offers Abhira curd and sugar for good luck, expressing hope for a positive outcome.
Maira asks Vidya to also give the good luck curd to Geetanjali, stating that she believes Geetanjali is the best. In another corner, Armaan approaches Abhira, lightly scolding her for staying up all night. At the same time, Geetanjali questions Vidya’s intentions in giving the curd to Abhira. Vidya clarifies that she wants the competition to happen, wishes for Abhira’s victory, and hopes Maira supports her mother while Geetanjali gains some wisdom.
Abhira thanks Armaan for supporting her and asks him to wish her well. Armaan tells her she does not need luck, but still gives her back her lucky charm, a small tortoise, which makes her happy. Abhira thanks him and expresses her hope to win, after which she directs him towards Geetanjali.
When Armaan approaches Geetanjali, she starts an argument, but he chooses to walk away. Geetanjali then tampers with a connection wire. Before the competition begins, Armaan advises Maira to judge both Abhira and Geetanjali’s performances with complete fairness.
