Surrey shooting in November 2025 leads to firearms charges

A 31-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearms offences in connection with a shooting at a home in Surrey Central that left one woman injured.
Ashnil Singh is charged with six criminal offences, including recklessly discharging a firearm into a place where a person might be present.
Police were called to a shooting at around 9 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2025, at a home in the 12100-block of 101B Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a woman who had been shot in the thigh.
She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; several other people were inside at the time, and there were no other injuries.
SPS’s Major Crime Section (MCS) took over the lengthy investigation and identified the suspect and their vehicle. Police obtained search warrants and located the firearm, which was later determined to be the firearm involved in the shooting.
Police located the suspect in Vancouver near Ontario Street and West 33 Avenue on May 13, and he was arrested with the help of the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service and SPS Strike Force.
Singh remains in custody until his next court appearance on May 15.
