In a historic event, UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey and MMA pioneer Gina Carano make their returns atop the first-ever MMA card broadcasted by Netflix and promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
Rousey (12-2) changed MMA forever when she debuted in the UFC in 2013, making six consecutive defense of the UFC women’s bantamweight title and opening the floodgates for women to compete in the sport’s biggest promotion. She now makes her return to the cage for the first time in nearly 10 years.

Carano (7-1), likewise, competes for the first time since 2009. Like Rousey, she helped tear down the door for women’s MMA and was one of the sport’s most high-profile trailblazers of its earliest eras.

Diaz is primarily looking to land with left hand punches. Almost to a concerning degree. It’s mostly a phonebooth boxing match right now to start Round 2. Diaz jabs and gets met with swinging right hands. A sharp double jab from Diaz lands, then a right hook out of nowhere. Perry knees in the quick clinch. Perry cracks with a big right hook and follow-up heavy lefts! Slicing elbows! Huge uppercut from Perry! He’s unloading! Diaz is getting swarmed. He escapes to back away from the cage. Both are bloodied. Perry’s right finds a home again, backing up Diaz. Hard elbow lands for Perry. Diaz gets caught from behind, as Perry gets turned, and they break. Perry smashes Diaz with a big hook and knee! Diaz goes to his back! Perry follows with ground and pound. He starts letting off some hooks then stands. Diaz gets up slowly. He is absolutely leaking. A hard Perry hook lands, as Diaz continues to try to bounce away. Perry rips the body, as Diaz tries to side kick away. This could be a between-round stoppage. A heavy knee drops Diaz at the end of the round! That could be it.

Perry comes out with a quick push kick and immediately cracks Diaz with a pair of hard punches! Diaz jabs back before they clinch. Perry elbows and knees nicely. He lands another on the break. Diaz hits a beautiful judo toss, but Perry quickly gets up to start landing punches. Diaz begins working for submissions! He wraps himself around Perry’s leg for an inside heel hook. Perry pulls his way out and stands. Perry jabs then launches a hard hook to the body. They each have slowed already. A hard body shot hurts Diaz! He jumps on the attack, but they’re still tired. Another body shot lands before Perry goes upstairs and jabs. Diaz is just wobbling around the cage now. Perry jabs and Diaz clinches up. They break, and Diaz jabs in succession. It’s nothing but jabs from Diaz, as he eats a right hand. Diaz stings with a good right straight. Perry gets lit up by a nice three-punch combo! Diaz eats a big right hook, then fires back with a stiff jab. He eats a knee to the gut. Perry plants another hook to the body. Elbows connect for Perry near the cage as time dwindles off the clock.

Despite Perry’s superior combat sports activity in recent years, he comes into this fight stunningly owning a longer hiatus from MMA than Diaz.
Both men last fought in MMA in their final UFC bouts — Perry in 2021 and Diaz in 2022. The former lost his welterweight clash to Daniel Rodriguez, while Diaz secured a fourth-round guillotine against Tony Ferguson.
Age is on the side of the 34-year-old Perry here, who’s only honed his striking skills in life since the UFC. He’s become the poster boy for bare-knuckle boxing — not just for BKFC, but the sport as a whole. Perry is as violent as they come, and his striking arsenal now gets reopened under MMA rules. Obviously, he’ll be at a disadvantage on the ground against the sneakily underappreciated grappler that Diaz is. But that’s mostly in the jiu-jitsu department. Diaz has never been a strong wrestler by any means, and his submissions have often come off striking exchanges or getting taken down first — the latter of which Perry is unlikely to do.
Even with that in mind, Diaz won’t be shooting for takedowns either. This should largely be a kickboxing match disguised as an MMA fight, and Perry is an overall bigger threat with his tools, packing power in every strike. Diaz is more of a death-by-a-thousand-cuts type of boxer, but stopping Perry will be quite the task — one that will require the 41-year-old Diaz to survive long into the night.
