Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Extension progresses with all new stations under construction

Fleetwood SkyTrain station is starting to take shape.
All eight stations along the Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension are under construction, with progress visible above ground at Fleetwood and Green Timbers stations, according to the Ministry of Transportation.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometres, primarily along Fraser Highway from King George station in Surrey to 203 Street in Langley.
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke said, “The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension is a major transportation investment that will strengthen connections across our region, reduce travel times, and support the long-term growth of our city. It will improve how people get around in City Centre, Fleetwood, and Cloverdale, and play an important role in shaping the future of these communities as they continue to grow.”
The new Green Timbers station will be located at 140 Street and Fraser Highway, on the west edge of Green Timbers Urban Forest, near Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, the BC RCMP E-Divisional Headquarters and Surrey Memorial Hospital. The Fleetwood Station will be at Fraser Highway and 160 Street.
The Bakerview 166 Street station is in East Fleetwood and located adjacent to the Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex.
The construction on the guideway foundation for the extension is almost complete, as is 75 per cent of the guideway column work.
Once the extension opens in late 2029, it will take just over an hour to travel from Langley City Centre to Waterfront Station in Vancouver.
“Everyone needs to get to school, work or appointments, and all the better if commutes go quickly with a minimum of stress,” said Premier David Eby. “This new extension links the growing region south of the Fraser with the rest of Metro Vancouver, making commuting faster and easier, while relieving traffic congestion.”
There will also be 14 km of new multi-use pathways, including walking and cycling routes, along the extension.
