The Switch has seen all sorts of software released since its launch in 2017, and that includes a number of ports that many thought would be impossible. Behind a decent amount of those ports is Virtuous, the studio that brought games like Dark Souls: Remastered, BioShock: The Collection, NieR:Automata and The Outer Worlds to the platform. Turns out Virtuos wants to challenge themselves even more, and with two ports that would end up being their crowning jewels if they came to fruition.
In a chat with Pocket Tactics, Virtuos’ Andy Fong talked about the studio’s work and what they’ve achieved on Switch. While the company has worked all sorts of magic on Switch so far, given the chance they’d love to bring over not one, but two of Rockstar’s biggest titles ever to Nintendo’s last-gen hybrid. Rockstar has given no indication that ports of either titles are making their way to Switch, but it sounds like Virtuos is trying to speak the idea into existence. While Nintendo may be focusing mostly on the Switch 2 going forward, they did say that they won’t be leaving the Switch behind. If their aging platform could see ports of both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, there’s no doubt it would breathe new life into the ecosystem, and spur on quite a bit of sales as well.
