Wrexham are still chasing further attacking additions, and Phil Parkinson is paying close attention to Nathan Broadhead’s situation at Ipswich Town.

Wrexham have brought in three new attackers this summer, bolstering Phil Parkinson’s options in the final third.

Ryan Hardie became Wrexham’s first summer signing, before Josh Windass arrived at the STōK Cae Ras on a free transfer.

Kieffer Moore joined Wrexham from Sheffield United last week and really caught the eye as Wrexham’s focal man up top against Southampton.

Moore picked up an injury in that game, though, and we could see further incoming movement in Wrexham’s attack.

Mo Faal joined Port Vale on loan last week, and Ollie Palmer has been made available after dropping down the pecking order in 2025.

Wrexham could go for another centre-forward, but appear to be focusing on signing a versatile attacker who can play in different roles.

Ipswich Town’s Nathan Broadhead fits that bill, having played out wide, as a number 10 and as a striker over the course of his career.

Wrexham were closing in on signing Broadhead in July, but a £7.5million deal has stalled while Ipswich sort out their own situation out wide.

Broadhead missed Ipswich’s Carabao Cup defeat to Bromley on Tuesday night, leaving Wrexham fans hopeful of progress over a transfer.

However, Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna claims that Broadhead is actually ill right now, and wasn’t well enough to feature on Tuesday.

“Nathan reported sick this morning, which obviously isn’t ideal on the day of the game,” said McKenna while speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times.

Some fans may be a little dubious of this explanation; we have heard the ‘illness’ line so many times during transfer sagas, but McKenna claims Broadhead was simply unwell.

McKenna will hope to have Broadhead back in action against Southampton this weekend, but the Wrexham rumours just won’t go away.

Wrexham left waiting on Nathan Broadhead deal

McKenna has admitted Wrexham’s interest in Broadhead, but the lack of progress on a deal may leave Wrexham fans frustrated.

The Wrexham Insider understands that Wrexham are still hoping to sign Broadhead, but it all depends on Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys don’t want to leave themselves short in attack, even after Chuba Akpom completed his move to Portman Road.

Jaden Philogene has picked up an injury, and Omari Hutchinson is wanted in the Premier League, so Broadhead may yet have a future at Ipswich.

Wrexham will hope that isn’t the case, and McKenna’s admission that Broadhead wants the move suggests that a deal will be done eventually; it just may take some patience.
