The Edmonton Elks released linebacker Darien Butler on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Darien Butler is five foot ten and weighs 225 pounds. The 25-year-old from Los Angeles, California, signed with the Edmonton Elks on May 11, 2025. He was on the suspended list on May 23, 2025, and did not play in the preseason.

The Las Vegas Raiders signed Butler as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In 2022, he made 11 tackles (3 solos, 8 assists) in 15 games. In 2023, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in two preseason games. He missed the 2023 season due to an injury. In 2024, he was on the PUP list and did not play in the preseason. The Raiders released him on August 27, 2024.

Collegiately, Butler played four seasons at Arizona State (2018-21) making 243 tackles (121 solos, 122 assists), 24.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 40 games for the Sun Devils. He was named Second Team All-Pac 12 in 2021.
