I think I know where I went wrong.
Against the Fleet in Game 4, I made a conscious decision to avoid watching the hockey game, whereas on Saturday, I was preoccupied by work such that I couldn’t have tuned in even if I wanted to. I need the remote to be within my reach, fighting the urge to repeat my mistake from Game 1 and tune in for the final two minutes.
This is the only ace up our sleeve remaining if the Charge are going to break their Walter Cup Final losing streak of five games, let alone bring a championship to a city that, in spite of initial skepticism from other fanbases, has embraced women’s hockey in a way that no other PWHL market really has.
Who knows, maybe it’ll be our turn to get a lucky break from a non-call this evening?
