A pilot was killed when a glider crashed northeast of Edmonton on Monday afternoon and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is now investigating, according to the RCMP.
Mounties from the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment were called to respond to a glider crash in Lamont County at 3:10 p.m. Police said the pilot was declared dead at the scene when officers arrived. They said there were no other victims.
Police did not provide further details about the pilot who died or where in Lamont County the crash occurred.

In a news release, the TSB said the glider that crashed is a “a privately registered Schleicher ASW 20.”
The agency said it has deployed a team of investigators to the crash site to look into what happened.
