MELBOURNE, VIC — A beloved member of the Minnesota Timberwolves won’t be coming back next season after signing a two-year contract with an Australian basketball team.
Joe Ingles, who is from Australia, has been with the T-Wolves since 2024. He previously played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic, and played eight seasons with the Utah Jazz.
In a press release, Melbourne United said it is thrilled to say Ingles is coming to the team, and noted that he is among the best ever Australian players.
Ingles said in the press release that coming home to Melbourne “feels incredibly special.”
“To return to where my professional career began almost 20 years ago is something I don’t take for granted. So much has happened since then, but Melbourne has always felt like home,” Ingles said.
