Canadian fighter Jasmine Jasudavicius is getting the recognized by the mixed martial arts world.
Fighters Only CEO Rob Hewitt announced the nominations for the 17th annual World MMA Awards in a press release on Tuesday, including Canada’s very own Jasudavicius for Female Fighter of the Year.
The five-foot-seven fighter has the chance to make history as a Canadian has never won Female Fighter of the Year.
The St. Catherines, ON. native is currently ranked No. 5 in the Women’s Flyweight category with a 14-3-0-0 record. Her next fight is on UFC’s Fight Night in Vancouver Oct. 18 against No. 2 ranked Manon Fiorot.
The other nominees include Dakota Ditcheva, Kayla Harrison, Valentina Shevchenko and Natalia Silva. The athletes are chosen based on performance through a year-long period from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. The nominees are selected by a panel of MMA industry experts and judge performance in and outside the ring.
Voting for the 2025 awards open Aug. 12 and fans will have until Oct. 6 to cast their votes online.
Last year’s Female Fighter of the Year was awarded to Weili Zhang, a Chinese mixed martial artist in the Strawweight division.
The 2025 World MMA Awards ceremony date and location will be announced by Fighters Only in the following weeks.
