Two face charges following an incident that happened over the weekend.
Sault Ste. Marie police say officers conducted a traffic stop around 3:15 a.m. on May 16 in the 100 block of Pilgrim Street.
Upon speaking with the occupants, police say officers learned neither person owned, nor had reason to be inside the vehicle.
“Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a business,” a news release said.
As a result, 41-year-old Amanda Diggins and 48-year-old Kerri Peplow-Nahwegahbow were arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Both accused were released on appearance notices and are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10.
