Police say a man has been charged with dangerous driving offences after a vehicle ramming in Vancouver’s West End on May 15 left a senior with critical injuries and two police officers hospitalized.
A Vancouver Police Department (VPD) statement on Tuesday says that Tadd Bali, 34, was charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
Police said last Friday that a driver allegedly rammed several vehicles, drove along the sidewalk and hit a senior riding a motorized scooter around Comox and Broughton streets and the Nelson Park dog area.
VPD said the incident was reported around 5:30 a.m. PT, and the suspect allegedly rammed a police vehicle responding to the incident, destroying the cruiser.

According to the VPD statement, Bali has had “extensive interactions” with police in B.C. and Saskatchewan, and he remains in custody.
“The senior citizen injured when the suspect vehicle struck him remains in the hospital in serious condition,” the statement reads.
“Both injured VPD officers, including one recruit constable who was on his second day of work at the time of the incident, were released from the hospital on May 15.”
Bali was arrested near Comox and Bute streets last Friday, and police said at the time that mental health and drug use were possible factors in the incident.
