Investigators have charged a 13-year-old boy from Brampton after police say he stole his parents vehicle and led officers on a chase.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday when the OPP says officers were contacted by Peel Regional Police about a 13-year-old suspect who had taken his parents’ vehicle.
Investigators said the teens may have been driving to Gravenhurst to see friends, and that the vehicle was found later near Lofty Pines Drive.
But the 13-year-old driver failed to stop for officers and tried to flee the area, leaving the road and crashing.
Police say the teen has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving, take motor vehicle without consent, flight from peace officer and stunt driving.
The accused, who cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held in custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday.
