JGR AT CHARLOTTE: Joe Gibbs Racing owns nine NASCAR Cup Series wins at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In 158 combined starts at the track, the organization has tallied 61 top-five finishes, 93 top-10s, 13 pole awards, and 4,123 laps led. Christopher Bell, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Tony Stewart, and Martin Truex Jr. have all driven JGR entries to victory lane at Charlotte.

600 SUCCESS: Bobby Labonte scored Joe Gibbs Racing’s first Coca-Cola 600 victory in May 1995. After that, the organization did not win the season’s longest race again until May 2015 when Carl Edwards earned his first win with JGR. Over the past 11 years, JGR has won the Coca-Cola 600 times five times with five different drivers, including Edwards in 2015, Kyle Busch in 2018, Martin Truex Jr. in 2019, Denny Hamlin in 2022, and Christopher Bell in 2024.

DENNY HAMLIN

No. 11 National Debt Relief Toyota Camry XSE

ALL-STAR WINNER: Denny Hamlin captured his second career NASCAR All-Star Race victory last weekend at Dover Motor Speedway. Similar to his previous win in 2015, Hamlin started on the pole. This time, the No. 11 driver led 156 of 350 total laps and won by .887 seconds over teammate Chase Briscoe.

HAMLIN AT CHARLOTTE: Hamlin is a former Coca-Cola 600 winner after claiming the crown jewel victory in 2022. Overall, he has recorded 12 top-five finishes, 21 top-10s, two pole awards, and 468 laps led at the track. The Virginia native has finished seventh or better in four of the last six races on Charlotte’s 1.5-mile quad-oval layout. Last May, Hamlin led 53 laps at Charlotte before an unscheduled pit stop late in the race relegated him to a 16th-place finish.

600 MILES OF REMEMBRANCE: Hamlin’s No. 11 National Debt Relief Toyota Camry XSE will honor United States Army Staff Sergeant Michael H. Ollis. SSG Ollis was born on September 16, 1988, in Staten Island, New York. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfathers who also served in the military, SSG Ollis entered the Army in 2006. After multiple deployments overseas, including time in Afghanistan, Germany, and Iraq, Ollis was once again deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 with the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. On August 28, 2013, Ollis and his team were attacked. During the attack, he instructed his fellow soldiers to move to a bunker for safety while he and one other colleague moved toward the point of attack. Both Ollis and his fellow soldier were killed during the ensuing combat. For his actions, Ollis was posthumously awarded the Silver Star that was eventually upgraded to the Distinguished Service Cross to go along with the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Earlier this year, SSG Ollis also received the Medal of Honor.

SEASON SO FAR: Through 12 races, Hamlin sits second in the points standings. He leads the series with 624 laps led and 251 fastest laps run. Beyond that, Hamlin ranks second in average finishing position, average running position, driver rating, and laps in the top 15. He is also tied for third in top-five finishes and top-10s.

CW BROADCAST: Hamlin will be a guest analyst during The CW’s broadcast of this weekend’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Coverage begins Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on The CW.

No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry XSE

BRISCOE AT CHARLOTTE: Chase Briscoe has five NASCAR Cup Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway including a career-best performance in last year’s Coca-Cola 600 where he started from the pole and finished third. Briscoe also has five NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts and one NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start at the track.

ALL-STAR RECAP: Briscoe led 61 laps en route to a second-place finish in last weekend’s NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway. Late in the race, Briscoe grabbed the lead on the final restart with 52 laps remaining. He held the top spot until he was passed by eventual winner Denny Hamlin on lap 171.

600 MILES OF REMEMBRANCE: First Lieutenant Ace W. Tyler (USAF) was on the crew of a B-24H Liberator during World War II. On the 29th of May 1944, on his 17th mission, 1st Lt. Tyler flew from England on a mission to Politz, Germany, in order to destroy North German oil works there. The bomber was shot down near Gueltz where the burning plane crashed and nine of the crew members perished. Only one crew member survived. 1st Lt. Tyler was 26 years old and newly married when he was killed in action. 1st Lt. Tyler was nominated by his nephew, Ryan McDonald, who is the General Manager of the Bass Pro Shops location in Branson, Missouri.

JAMES SMALL: 2026 is James Small’s seventh season leading the No. 19 team and his second year with Briscoe behind the wheel. The first five years of his tenure as crew chief were spent with Martin Truex Jr. Small has led his drivers to 11 wins across those seven seasons. The No. 19 crew chief has two top-five finishes and four top-10s in seven starts at Charlotte.

No. 20 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry XSE

BELL AT CHARLOTTE: Christopher Bell heads into Memorial Day at Charlotte Motor Speedway looking for another win in the Coca-Cola 600. Bell led 90 of the rain-shortened 249-lap race in 2024 to take home the win. In addition to the win, Bell has two top-five finishes and four top-10s at the 1.5-mile track. He has also found success in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series at Charlotte with two top-five finishes in three starts in O’Reilly Series and a third and eighth-place finish his two Truck Series starts.

600 MILES OF REMEMBRANCE: There are two names on the windshield header of Bell’s white-and-gray arctic-camo Interstate Batteries Toyota: U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nicholas P. DiMona II and his son, U.S. Army Specialist Nicholas P. DiMona III.

U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nicholas P. DiMona II: DiMona enlisted in the Army in June 1990 and after fulfilling his original service obligation, he re-enlisted in November 1997 and became a helicopter pilot. He deployed to Iraq in January 2003 and flew more than 47 combat hours, earning the Air Medal for his services and bravery. Upon returning from Iraq, DiMona earned the title of Pilot in Command at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Then, on June 22, 2004, DiMona was lost in an aircraft training accident. He was 32.

U.S. Army Specialist Nicholas P. DiMona III: Nicholas P. DiMona III was three years old when his father passed away. The imagery and heirlooms of his dad’s decorated service career served as inspiration. The younger DiMona joined the Army in July 2017, completed his initial training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was stationed as an infantryman and paratrooper at Fort Greely, Alaska, in April 2018. Sadly, a training accident on March 20, 2019, took the life of the 20-year-old DiMona.

INTERSTATE BATTERIES: Interstate Batteries, the leading replacement battery brand with the largest independent battery distribution system in North America, is in their 35th consecutive season as a primary partner at Joe Gibbs Racing. After this weekend, the ‘Outrageously Dependable’ brand will be featured on the No. 20 for the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 8).

ALL-STAR RECAP: Bell qualified sixth for last weekend’s NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway. He ran inside the top 10 during the opening stint of the race. Unfortunately for Bell, he was collected in multi-car accident on lap 73. The No. 20 team spent the majority of the second 75-lap segment in the garage making repairs. Bell lined up 22nd for the final 200 laps to complete the All-Star Race, but a flat tire sent him to pit road under green and cost him valuable track position. After the misfortune, he finished the day with a 23rd-place result.

No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry XSE

GIBBS AT CHARLOTTE: Ty Gibbs has competed in three Coca-Cola 600s with a best finish of sixth in May 2024’s rain-shortened race where he led 74 laps. In May 2024, Gibbs earned his first career NASCAR Cup Series pole award at Charlotte after winning the O’Reilly Series pole one day earlier. Across four NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts at Charlotte, he owns one win, three top-five finishes and four top-10s. Gibbs also won an ARCA Menards Series race at Charlotte in May 2021.

CHARLOTTE SWEEP: On May 29, 2021, Gibbs went two-for-two with wins in the O’Reilly Series and ARCA Menards Series races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The day started with the O’Reilly Series race where Gibbs outdueled Chase Briscoe for his second career victory in only his sixth start. Later that day, Gibbs started on the pole and led all 100 laps to win the ARCA race.

ALL-STAR RECAP: Gibbs made his third career start in the NASCAR All-Star Race but finished 24th after suspension damage forced him out of the race on lap 138.

600 MILES OF REMEMBRANCE: Gibbs’ No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry XSE will honor SFC Jack Zygmunt Sky (1929-73). Sky was a Polish-born special forces soldier who rose to the rank of E-7. Fluent in seven languages, he became known for his fearlessness in the field, including digging up live land mines with his bare hands. Sky served in Vietnam, earning the Combat Infantryman’s badge, the Vietnam Service medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, during his service. He died tragically from injuries sustained while riding as a passenger in a military vehicle.

TYLER ALLEN: Crew chief Tyler Allen is in his second season atop the pit box for Gibbs and the No. 54 team. Last year, Allen guided the group to five top-five finishes, 10 top 10s and 304 laps led. In 2024, he also led JGR’s No. 20 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series team to eight victories and a runner-up finish in the owners’ championship.
