Cloverdale District Chamber opens nominations for 11th annual Clovies; awards recognize the best of East Surrey businesses

After a milestone year last year, The Clovies are set to embark upon their second decade.
The annual awards recognize the best of businesses and people in East Surrey, including Cloverdale, Clayton Heights, and Campbell Heights.
The awards are hosted by the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is now accepting nominations in several categories.
As the awards enter their second decade, the future “couldn’t be brighter” for Surrey’s most prestigious business awards, said Scott Wheatley—the Chamber’s executive director. He revealed a big change is coming as The Clovies enter their 11th year.
“We’re changing it up,” Wheatley said. “We’re going to have a brand new trophy this year that will be in use for the next decade.”
He added the iconic green will remain, but the shape of the trophy will be transformed.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University will be back as the main sponsor again.
Wheatley asked those who live in East Surrey, or anyone connected to businesses in the area, to nominate worthy candidates for a 2026 Clovie.
“We receive hundreds of nominations from members of our business community and this year we were thrilled to continue this tradition,” he added.
He also encouraged people to get their nominations in as soon as possible. He’s found in the past that the deadline tends to creep up on people and they’re always asking for more time. This year the deadline for nominations is July 31, just over two months from now.

Nominees will be announced sometime in the fall and the winners will be revealed at the Clovies Awards Gala set for Northview Golf and Country Club on Nov. 12.
The Clovies features both a live and silent auction, on-site entertainment, and a gourmet dinner.

Nominations are open it the following categories:
Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year: Honours a non-profit organization, which may include a charity, community association or society, that is making significant strides within its sphere of influence and adding value to the community.
New Business of the Year: Honours a “start-up” with a minimum of six (6) months to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months since incorporation and is achieving outstanding results in a short period of time.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Recognizes a young “rising star”, 39 years of age or younger with entrepreneurial instincts, who is making a difference within his/her organization and the community.
Indigenous Business of the Year: Honours an organization that is majority Indigenous owned and is making strides putting reconciliation into action and supporting youth.
Bill Reid Memorial Business Person of the Year: Recognizes an individual with proven business acumen, who promotes the community at every opportunity and is an inspirational leader within his/her organization.
Excellence in Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity: Honours an organization that has made commitments to address societal disparity and injustice, and established or expanded diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for their current and future workforce.
Women Led Business of the Year: Honours a company that has a founder, co-founder, or in an executive position, and has women play an active role in both strategic or day-to-day decision making.
Business Excellence Large Business (20+ employees): Honours a larger business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.
Business Excellence Medium Business (10 – 19 employees): Honours a medium business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.
Business Excellence Small Business (1-9 employees): Honours a small business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.
