The Greater Toronto Area is about to be home to a massive new international grocery store.

Food World Plus is set to open in Mississauga at 50 Matheson Blvd. E.

“At Food World Plus, our mission is to bring the world’s flavours to Mississauga by offering an unmatched variety of fresh, authentic, and specialty foods — from meats to gluten-free options and global snacks — all under one roof,” according to the Food World Plus team.

“We envision becoming the go-to international grocery destination where every visit feels like a culinary journey, and where quality, convenience, and community come together to make shopping an experience to savour.”

The upcoming grocery story is slotted to have a total floor area of 176,338 square feet and will feature a deli, a bakery, a floral shop, and coffee to go, along with flavours from Asia, the Mediterranean, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and more.

It will also have alcohol, a health and beauty section with Korean skin care and perfume, and gluten-free and kosher options. Plus, live seafood tanks, a food court, and chocolates from around the world.

“Whether you’re looking for everyday staples or something special for a celebration, you’ll find it here without having to visit multiple stores,” the team said.

“One store, every flavour — that’s what we’re all about.”

Although an opening date has yet to be announced, shoppers can keep an eye on the Food World Plus social media online for all the latest updates.

More new grocery stores in the Greater Toronto Area

And while the neighbourhood waits for Food World Plus to make its debut, it isn’t the only new grocery store to make its way to the area. 

Freshpro Foodmart launched earlier this year in March at 7333 Goreway Dr. with a focus on authentic Asian ingredients.

As the third Freshpro Foodmart store in the area, the grocer can also be found in Richmond Hill at 10488 Yonge St. and in Brampton at 9125 Airport Rd.

“We are a trusted destination for premium groceries, offering an exceptional selection of fresh produce, seafood, meats, and specialty foods,” according to the store.

In April, T&T also opened its newest Erin Mills location at 3060 Ridgeway Dr. in Mississauga.

Poised to help serve those across the Halton Region, the store is a total 40,000 square feet and has become the second T&T location in Mississauga.
