Shots were fired early morning on May 20 at a residence in Surrey. The investigation is in its early stages; however, it is believed to be extortion related.
Although police did not release more information on whose house was targeted, according to media reports it was the house of Cricket Canada president Arvinder Khosa. According to CBC Khosa confirmed his house, located in the Newton neighbourhood, was shot but didn’t provide any further details when reached by phone.
The police said on May 20, 2026, at approximately 4:40 am, SPS Frontline officers responded to reports of a shooting near 57 Avenue and 148 Street in Surrey. Upon arrival, police noted damage to a residence and evidence of shots fired. The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting and fortunately no one was injured.
SPS’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) has taken over the lead on the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.
Cricket Canada has been in headlines for quite sometime now.
Cricket Canada was the focus of a fifth estate investigation published last month that revealed broader allegations of corruption, influence by organized crime and attempts to fix parts of matches by major figures at Cricket Canada. Those accused deny the allegations.
Later the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended funding to Cricket Canada for the next six months over governance-related concerns
According to CBC, this is not the first time a high-level member of Cricket Canada has had their house targeted. In late February and early March, a former board member’s Calgary home was shot at in two separate incidents. Three men are facing charges in relation to that shooting, with one of those suspects still at large.
