A 40-year-old from Ottawa has been charged by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after a December 2025 collision between an OPP vehicle and a pickup truck that fatally injured a child and seriously injured three others.
The crash happened late in the afternoon of Dec. 13, 2025 on Highway 7 between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7.
According to OPP, an officer was on patrol in a marked cruiser when their vehicle was struck by the truck.
Three people who were in the truck were seriously injured and taken to hospital, including a 10-year-old child. OPP reported two days later that the child had died.
The officer driving the police vehicle was also seriously injured.
On Friday, police said a 40-year-old from Ottawa is facing four charges: dangerous operation causing bodily harm, dangerous operation causing death, impaired operation causing bodily harm and impaired operation causing death.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again in August.
Police also asked anyone with information or dashcam footage who has not already come forward to contact the Lanark County detachment.
