The family of Jay’siiah Webb-Long are asking the community for support as they deal with the “unimaginable loss” of the teen, who was missing for over a year before he was found dead in Saskatchewan.

“Jay’siiah was only 16 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him,” reads a message on a memorial fundraiser started to support the boy’s family.

The last confirmed sighting of Jay’siiah was on March 27, 2025, when he was leaving his home in the area of Ivor Crescent and Hoxton Road in Brampton.

The boy’s mother was in contact with Jay’siiah over social media, but Peel Regional Police say that communication stopped on May 16 last year.

Investigators tracked the missing teen to Saskatchewan, but say the address where officers believed he was staying was evacuated due to forest fires.

The Saskatchewan RCMP says his remains were discovered on May 13 during a planned search near Pelican Narrows, a community with a population of 2,000 located around 500 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.

And while the family is waiting for answers on what happened to Jay’siiah, a fundraiser has been started to help them with funeral and memorial expenses, travel costs, and other unexpected expenses as they bring his home “and lay him to rest surrounded by loved ones.”

“No parent or family should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to the family as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” the GoFundMe page reads.

When he first went missing, family members described Webb-Long as “vulnerable” and said his disappearance was unusual. He had no previous family connections to Saskatchewan.

Mounties says the investigation is ongoing, and that anyone with information should report it to Saskatchewan RCMP by calling 310-RCMP (1-306-780-5563 if calling from outside the province).
