Science World’s ‘On The Road’ comes to Campbell River on May 25 as part of Island tour

Science World will visit 13 elementary schools across Central Vancouver Island starting May 25, thanks to the On The Road program.
The science program includes a special free public event on Saturday, May 30, at the North Island College (NIC) at the Campbell River Campus.
Scientists of all ages are invited to join the community celebration at the NIC Campbell River Campus on Saturday (May 30) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family-friendly event hosted by the NIC is available at no cost to all community members and brings together local people engaged in science, technology, engineering, art and design, and mathematics (STEAM), from enthusiasts to local science professors.
The public can enjoy shows, local exhibitors, explore NIC Labs, and there’s even an exclusive teens-only workshop.
After having visited Campbell River schools in November 2025, the team returns to the region on May 25 to June 4, for a two-week adventure visiting 13 schools in Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Qualicum Beach, Parksville, and even the more remote schools in Gold River, Tahsis, Zeballos and Kyuoquot.
The tour to the Central Island region wraps up a season of outreach programming by the On The Road program, which will visit 144 elementary schools and 27,000 students across BC at no cost to schools over the 2025-26 school year.
“Extending the Science World experience to every corner of the province, ensuring access to similar programming outside the dome, is incredibly rewarding,” said Stefano Giulianetti, outreach manager at Science World.
“We believe that every school, teacher, student, and family in BC deserves access to vital resources and programming to prepare for a future powered by STEAM, filled with wonder, critical thinking, and problem-solving.”
The On The Road program brings fun, high-energy live demonstrations and activities to communities all around the province that pique science curiosity, boost science literacy and inspire future science and technology
leaders.
“The Science of Sport” is presented at no cost to schools across B.C. thanks to the support of the provincial government. In Nanaimo, the tour is made possible by tour partner, McElhanney.
Additionally, on May 30, there will be a special workshop specifically for 11+ teens by the Science World ‘Girls and STEAM’ program, presented by STEMCELL Technologies.
This special one-hour hands-on workshop is an opportunity to put scientific knowledge to work.
