That’s all she wrote for General Hospital leading lady Kate Mansi as Kristina — at least for now. As the Emmy winner completes her initial three-year contract with the ABC soap — she made her debut in 2023, you’ll recall — she’s about to exit stage left, SoapSteph’s Soap Dish reports.
The reason? Though the Days of Our Lives alum has been warmly embraced as Alexis and Sonny’s trouble-magnet daughter, she needs to be able to travel, she told the site, as husband Matt McInnis is working on a series overseas. On top of that, she wants to develop new projects of her own and “step into new adventures.”

Per the report, Mansi finished taping back in April but will continue to be seen on air for at least a little while longer (into June, even). But in Tuesday’s episode, Kristina is on the receiving end of big news — presumably news that will prove to be massive enough to take her away from Port Charles.
Off and on from 2011-20, Mansi slayed as Days of Our Lives’ ill-fated Abigail, along the way winning the 2017 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. In 2023, she took over the General Hospital role of Kristina, which had previously been held by Lexi Ainsworth and Lindsey Morgan.
Many a fan has been hoping that, now that Nathan Dean is back on the show as Ethan, his flirtatious relationship with Kristina might continue. But if it’s going to — in the immediate future, anyway — it’s gonna have to be with a recast in the role.
In the long run, though, Mansi could always return to the fold. Executive producer Frank Valentini told the website that “the door is always open” for the MVP to come back. Here’s hoping!
