NEW YORK (WFSB) – Former UConn star Azzi Fudd had herself a night on Sunday.
The WNBA No. 1 draft pick for the Dallas Wings made history by putting up 17 of her 24 points in the third quarter.
The league said that the 17 points tied for the second most points by a rookie in any quarter in WNBA history. She also connected on six three-pointers, which was the second most in a single game by a rookie in league history.
Fudd also added 3 steals and a couple of blocks in the 91-76 win over the New York Liberty.
Fudd’s former UConn teammate, Paige Bueckers, also had a stellar night. She had 24 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished a couple of assists.
For New York, Breanna Stewart, another former Husky, had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The win put the Wings above 500. They sit at 4-3.
The Liberty dropped to 500. Their record is 3-3.
