Last Wednesday, May 20, the Calgary Zoo announced its grizzly bear cubs are officially on habitat.

Turner and Fritz were found orphaned near Diamond Valley in September 2025. The Calgary Zoo said their institute was contacted by Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement to take in the cubs.

It was believed their mother was killed following an “aggressive interaction with a human.”

“The cubs were born this year and are still fully dependent on their mom. Without human intervention, they surely would have died if left in the wild,” said the Calgary Zoo at the time.

Since arriving at the zoo, the cubs have spent months getting to know their dedicated care team and preparing for life in their new habitat.

The zoo said Turner and Fritz have been busy exploring the sights, smells, and sounds of their new home as they continue to settle in.
