Peel Regional Police have identified a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place in Mississauga last week.
In a news release issued Saturday, police said 28-year-old Jerome Edwards, who has no fixed address, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder.
The stabbing occurred around 12:15 p.m. on May 19 in the area of Hurontario Street and Agnes Street. Investigators allege the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation when the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in a nearby parking lot.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Chay Wilson of Mississauga. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police described Edwards as a Black male with a medium build, short black hair, and a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black zip-up jacket, fluorescent green pants, yellow Timberland-style boots, and a black watch on his right wrist. Investigators say he is known to frequent the Hurontario Street and Dundas Street area.
Authorities warn that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Members of the public are advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately if he is seen.
Investigators are urging Edwards to seek legal counsel and surrender to police. Police also warned that anyone found assisting or harbouring the suspect could face criminal charges.
