Summer splash season is underway in Winnipeg as the City of Winnipeg’s spray pads officially open for the season.
Many spray pads across the city opened Monday, offering families free outdoor water play as warmer weather settles into the region.
Most spray pads will operate daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and are expected to remain open until September 7.
According to the City of Winnipeg, residents can expect dozens of locations across neighbourhoods to be available throughout the summer season, weather permitting.

All spray pads will be in action by Friday, May 29, except for Boyd Park, which is scheduled for July 2.
Outdoor pools next in line
The city says outdoor pool openings will follow in mid-to-late June.
Heated outdoor pools are expected to begin opening June 19, while unheated pools are anticipated to open around June 26.
Wading pools will open on a staggered schedule beginning July 1.
The City of Winnipeg says full schedules and operating status for all spray pads, pools, and wading pools are available through its website or by contacting 311.
Winnipeg residents looking to make the most of the outdoor pool season can purchase a seasonal pass for unlimited access to all heated outdoor pools across the city.
Season passes are available for purchase at Pan Am Pool, Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, or 395 Main St.
Summertime fun
The spray pad season typically runs from late May through early September, depending on weather conditions and maintenance schedules.
Spray pads are free to use and are unsupervised, meaning parents and caregivers are encouraged to remain with children at all times.
