Superior residents may soon have new options for high-speed internet, according to Mayor Jim Paine. He posted the news on Facebook on Thursday morning. It’s called “Connect Superior,” and some people are already signing up.

The mayor says years of planning have gone into the Connect Superior project. He describes it as a “one of a kind” option in Wisconsin. It will bring the option of two new providers for high-speed internet. Those companies are Advance Stream and Superion.

Advance Stream’s website lists plans that range from $62.95 per month to $82.95 per month, depending on speed. The cheapest plan offers 300 Mbps fiber with free installation.

Superion is priced at $65.00 per month for 300 Mbps fiber service.

Currently, Connect Superior is available in the area near the University of Wisconsin-Superior, but plans are to expand to the entire city. You can sign up for updates on when the service will be available at your home.

The Connect Superior Availability map shows that the next neighborhood that services will roll out to will be in Superior’s North End, from Baxter Avenue to Catlin Avenue, North of Winter Street.

Spectrum cable internet has been the top choice for years in Superior, with limited competition. Recent 5G home internet options from wireless providers have brought some additional options.

Reaction to the Mayor’s post has been mostly positive. Some early reviews from consumers say it’s less expensive, very fast, and stable. Others are questioning when it’s available in their neighborhood.
