Police are investigating after a man died following a single-vehicle collision in northwest Calgary that resulted in the car catching fire.
Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, a Nissan Altima was heading west on Crowchild Trail N.W., exiting onto Northland Drive N.W., according to a police news release.
Police said the vehicle went off the road and into a grass median, where it continued west before sideswiping a concrete barrier and colliding with another, sending the vehicle into the air and ejecting the driver.
The vehicle then landed on its roof and caught fire.
The 35-year-old driver was found nearby and declared deceased at the scene, police said.
Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident; however, they are investigating speed as a possible element.
