A former member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has signed the largest wide receiver deal in Canadian Football League (CFL) history.
On Tuesday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced that they have extended All-CFL wide receiver Kenny Lawler through the 2028 season on a $1 million contract. The contract includes a $300,000 salary in 2026 that rises to $330,000 in 2027 and $370,000 in 2028.
Lawler’s contract is the biggest receiver deal in the history of the CFL, excluding Rocket Ismail’s 1991 deal with the Toronto Argonauts.

The 31-year-old appeared in all 18 regular-season games in 2025 with Hamilton and recorded 86 receptions for 1,443 yards. His 14 receiving touchdowns were also a league best.
Prior to joining Hamilton, Lawler was with the Blue Bombers [2019, 2021, 2023, 2024] for 51 games.
Over the course of his career, he has played 81 CFL regular-season games, he has recorded 342 receptions for 5,551 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Blue Bombers will get to see Lawler with the Ticats on June 11, for Winnipeg’s 2026 home opener.
