Police said the accused continued harassing and following a victim who is not well known to them

A Michigan resident has been charged after an incident at a business on Great Northern Road.

A 911 call came in at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday to report a disturbance in the 100 block of Great Northern Road.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said the accused followed someone across the border from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

“An investigation revealed that, despite warnings from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department in Michigan, the accused continued harassing and following a victim who is not well known to them,” Sault Police said in a news release.

Officers made an arrest just before 9 p.m.

Georgi Kalchev, 52, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan was charged with criminal harassment – beset and watch a person known to the complainant.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Kalchev is considered innocent until found guilty.
