The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost star quarterback Zach Collaros during the first half of Friday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders.

Collaros left the game after taking a hit from Calgary’s Clarence Hicks and appeared to hit his head on the turf after the play. He stayed down on the turf before walking off under his own power with Blue Bombers trainers. He was replaced by Chris Streveler.

The Blue Bombers ruled Collaros out after the first half.

The two-time Most Outstanding Player has completed eight of his 11 passes in the game for 151 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Calgary led 17-13 as the game went to halftime.

The 36-year-old has dealt with head injuries in the past, including a concussion that ended his time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2019.

Before taking the field Friday, Collaros has played four games for Winnipeg this season, passing for 801 yards and six touchdowns while completing 74.7 per cent of his passes.
