Winnipeggers trade winter layers for sunshine as heat wave hits

Many say it feels like the city has finally “defrosted,” with people eager to spend more time outdoors, whether walking along the river, sitting on patios, or gathering in public spaces.

While some residents say the heat can feel intense at times, most say they prefer it to winter conditions, particularly the challenges of heavy layers and waiting for transit in extreme cold.

However, many also note that the high heat can be challenging, with most saying they prefer more comfortable mid-20s temperatures.

One Winnipegger noted that it does not take long for complaints about the heat to surface once temperatures rise.

Others are already looking ahead to summer routines, including yard work, gardening, and spending long evenings outside.
