Jason Statham is one of the busiest action stars working in Hollywood today, and he is going all-out for a new action thriller headed to theaters this summer. The long-awaited trailer arrived back in April, revealing the Stath on a brutally violent revenge mission aboard a large cargo ship. Now, a new look at the film confirms that audiences are in for an action-packed time at the theaters.

Collider has released a new image from Mutiny, featuring Jason Statham as Cole Reed, an ex-Special Forces and former London police officer. He is locked and loaded in the latest look at the film, which revolves around Statham’s character on a ship determined to avenge his billionaire boss’ death and clear his name of the crime. Statham is often a one-man army in his projects, and that will be especially true in Mutiny. Reed will stop at nothing to get his revenge, mowing down scores of enemies in his path. It’s been a journey for Mutiny, which filmed in late 2024 and was set for a theatrical release back in January 2026 before moving into the summer. The long-awaited action thriller is now set to release on Aug. 21, closing out a jam-packed season full of blockbuster titles like Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Despite Statham’s most recent theatrical release, Shelter, failing to make back its $50 million budget at the box office, commercial successes like The Beekeeper prove his star power still be potent enough to keep Mutiny afloat.

The upcoming thriller serves as the hotly anticipated first collaboration between Statham and filmmaker Jean-François Richet, who previously directed major stars like Gerard Butler and Mel Gibson in Plane (2023) and Blood Father (2016), respectively. Statham is joined by a cast that includes Annabelle Wallis (Malignant), Roland Møller (Land of Mine), Jason Wong (The Gentlemen), Arnas Fedaravicius (The Last Kingdom), and Adrian Lester (Ponies).

Mutiny is the first of several titles Statham has lined up, as he is set to return in two action franchises: The Beekeeper 2 in 2027 and Fast Forever in 2028. Will his summer action thriller prop up a third franchise under his belt? We’ll find out when Mutiny hits theaters this August.
