Former Canucks forward Dakota Joshua believes he’s ready for the intense media pressure in Toronto this season after last year’s drama in Vancouver. The decision to move on from Dakota Joshua didn’t sit well with fans at the time and likely still isn’t given the fact that the club hasn’t really weaponized that cap space, other than to sign Vitali Kravtsov to a one-year contract at league minimum.Last season was a tough one for the Vancouver Canucks, dealing with injuries, inconsistent play and of course, drama, primarily due to the reported feud between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, all of which played a role in the team missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs and recently, Dakota Joshua spoke about that and the media attention it brought.

Dakota Joshua believes he’s ready for media attention in Toronto after drama-filled year with Vancouver

This week, Dakota Joshua was a guest on The JD Bunkis Podcast where he opened up about the difficult year in Vancouver, and also mentioned that he believes last season’s drama and media attention has helped prepare him for the pressure that comes with playing in Toronto.

“The mental wear and tear of going in and out took its toll last year. I want to put it behind me and really focus on having a great year.” Joshua said.

He later added, “As far as getting an understanding of how things work, we were always in the media spotlight last year for something every week. It was something new, which didn’t make it easier on anybody in the room. In Toronto, I got to imagine it’s pretty similar.”

There’s no question that playing for a Canadian NHL franchise brings a ton of pressure, with Toronto likely taking the top spot, and for a team that’s looking for their first trip to the Conference Final in 23 years, that now has Joshua in the fold, this coming season won’t be any different.
