Apple is expected to primarily focus on the iPhone 17 series with its upcoming September launch event. Of the four anticipated iPhones, the iPhone 17 Air will likely generate the most attention thanks to its ultra-slim housing. However, the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 should also be in attendance, just as the Watch Series 10 and Watch Ultra 2 (curr. $649.99 on Amazon) were during last year’s event.

According to MacRumors, neither of Apple’s forthcoming smartwatches will receive major performance or battery life improvements, though. Citing internal sources, the website claims that both models feature a processor codenamed ‘T8310’. While that name does not reveal anything in of itself, it Apple uses the same identifier for its S9 and S10 chipsets.

In other words, MacRumors‘ findings indicate that Apple will rebrand its smartwatch SoC for the third year running. Incidentally, the company pulled the same move between the Apple S6, S7 and S8. Likewise, the Series 11 and Ultra 3 are believed to retain 64 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM as older models, along with Bluetooth 5.3, U1 UWB and Wi-Fi 4 connectivity.
