Residents of Selkirk and the Interlake-Eastern region now have greater access to laboratory and diagnostic testing with the opening of a new Dynacare laboratory in Selkirk.
The Manitoba government announced the new facility has opened at the Interlake-Eastern Health Services building at 100 Easton Dr., adjacent to the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara says the new laboratory will help make health-care services more accessible closer to home.
“Improving access to care closer to home means making it easier for Manitobans to get the services they need in their communities,” Asagwara says. “This new laboratory in Selkirk will help connect more patients and families in the Interlake-Eastern region to important diagnostic services in a convenient community setting.”

Expanded community-based testing
The new Dynacare laboratory officially opened May 21 and is the only Dynacare-operated laboratory location in Selkirk.
According to the province, the site offers blood and urine collection services, Harmony non-invasive prenatal testing, and glucose tolerance testing.
The laboratory is located within the Interlake-Eastern Health Services building, which also houses a variety of community health services and clinics.
Shared Health Diagnostic Services will continue providing laboratory services for patients at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, giving residents multiple options for accessing diagnostic testing in the community.
Partnership aimed at improving access
The province says the new laboratory is part of an ongoing partnership involving the Manitoba government, Dynacare, Shared Health, and the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.
Officials say the collaboration is intended to improve access to community-based diagnostic services and support more integrated care for patients across the region.
The laboratory will operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
