Caitlin Clark added another record to her growing list of accomplishments Thursday night, but a new video released after the game may be just as impressive as the milestone itself. The Indiana Fever star entered the matchup against the Golden State Valkyries needing three assists to become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points and 500 assists.

She got there in classic Clark fashion. Midway through the second quarter, Clark grabbed the ball in transition and immediately spotted Sophie Cunningham racing toward the basket. From beyond half-court, Clark fired a perfectly placed pass that led to an uncontested layup and another piece of WNBA history.

The assist helped Clark reach the 1,000-point, 500-assist mark in just 59 career games, breaking the previous record of 82 games held by WNBA legend Sue Bird.

After the game, the Fever shared a video featuring multiple angles of the play. The different camera views help tell the story of just how difficult the pass actually was.

From one angle, Clark appears to throw the ball almost instinctively before Cunningham is fully open. Another view highlights the distance the pass traveled and the precision required to place it perfectly in stride. A third angle shows how quickly Clark processed the floor after securing possession.

Each replay reveals a different element of the play. What initially looked like a routine transition assist becomes far more impressive when viewed from multiple perspectives.

The record keeps growing

Clark finished the game with 16 points, six assists and three steals despite Indiana’s 90-88 loss to the Valkyries. The Fever saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, but Clark still managed to make history in the process.

Records have become a regular occurrence throughout her young WNBA career, but this one serves as another reminder of what makes her unique. Much of the attention surrounding Clark focuses on her long-range shooting.

Thursday’s milestone assist was a reminder that her vision and passing ability remain just as dangerous. And thanks to several new camera angles, there’s now an even better look at why.
