A 17-year-old is facing several charges in connection to shootings at two synagogues in Toronto and Vaughan that happened in early March, police say.
He is the second person charged in relation to the shootings. Police arrested and charged an 18-year-old man earlier this month.
The teen, who is from Waterloo, was charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and two counts of weapons trafficking, according to a news release from York Regional Police Friday.
He was taken into custody with the help of Waterloo police, the release said.
On March 6, just before midnight, gunshots were heard in the area of Clark Avenue W. and York Hill Boulevard.
When police arrived, they found the front doors of the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto synagogue damaged by gunfire. Two people who were inside were not injured.
A day later, just after midnight, gunshots were heard in the area of Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue.
